ADDITIONAL IDT PROGRAMS/CLASSES

IDT Vineyard “Intro to” Classes

Open Enrollment-Non Competing ONLY $25.00/mo.!!

These classes are a great way for students discovering dance for the first time or for students wanting to try other genres.

Dancers 2-5 years old will be introduced to basic movement techniques, tempo, level changes, group section choreography, performance opportunity.

Dancers 6-8 will learn and refine ballet and jazz techniques as well as learn a performance piece for parents in May.

*All IDT Classes are Directed by BFA or BS accredited instructors with at least 10-12 years of training and 6 years of teaching experience.

IDT Creative Movement Program

Non Competing Class/in studio performances

Dancers 3-6 years old

Dancers will explore movement techniques such as tempo, level changes, mirroring, texture etc. as they improvise and discover the power of expression through dance. Each season (Fall, Winter, Spring) will conclude with a performance of a new creative dance piece for the parents.

IDT Ballet 1

Non Competing Class/In Studio Performances

Dancers 3-5 years old

Dancers will be introduced to basic ballet technique including the positions, terms and combinations that will strengthen their abilities to master the building blocks of all dance genres. Dancers will be taught more complex choreography than in “Intro to” Classes.

One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September-May.

IDT Jazz 1

Non Competing Class/In Studio Performances

Dancers 3-5 years old

Students will learn elementary jazz technique focusing on rhythm, musicality, and retaining choreography through short combinations taught in weekly classes. Dancers will be taught more complex choreography than in “Intro to” Classes.

One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

IDT Hip Hop 1

Non Competing Class/In Studio Performances

Dancers 3-5 years old

Students will learn elementary hip hop technique focusing on rhythm, musicality, isolations and retaining choreography through short combinations taught in weekly classes. Dancers will be taught more complex choreography than in “Intro to” Classes.

One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

All students will be taught Ballet technique. They will learn short combinations during classes each week. IDT Ballet 2 and 3 are more relaxed ballet classes. For the more serious ballerinas, IDT offers Ballet 4 and Ballet 5 where leotard, tights and bun are required. IDT Pointe Prep will be followed by a Pointe class during the 2nd semester of the year. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September-May.

Dancers 7-9 and 9-11 years old who are serious about improving technique will work on turns (pirouettes, chaines), kicks, flexibility, leaps, splits, strength and precision movements in two separate age appropriate classes. They will work on Jazz techniques/learning short combinations. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September- May.

These classes will focus on the ability to learn combinations quickly in all different genres–jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop etc. This will help the dancers pick up choreography more quickly and prepare them for future auditions when confidence will be based upon learning choreography at a fast pace. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

IDT Tumbling

Coaches will make sure that each tumbler receives personal coaching to reach their individual goals. Many students have progressed more rapidly in the tumbling program than any other. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

They will learn entry level cheer choreography mixed in with elementary tumbling for performance pieces. Gold Pom Poms along with Gold Cheer Bows will be used in class and are available to purchase. Students will learn pom dance routine, cheers, some tumbling and some basic stunting–everything a cheerleader would need to know to cheer on the sidelines of a game or perform at halftime. No trial classes. One month commitment. Ongoing September- May

Dancers will learn tumbling skills and “tricks” within choreography combos. This class will help students better perform tumbling and tricks while performing team and solo pieces. No trial classes. One month commitment. Ongoing September-May.

IDT Senior Technique Class

(12 years old and up)

Each competing team has class once/week for 90 minutes. There is an additional technique class offered once/week for 60 minutes, which is highly encouraged but not required for all teams.

The Technique Class works on all turns (fouettes, pirouettes, a la seconds, etc.), leaps (side, center, split) , kicks, increasing flexibility, extension, conditioning, and precision. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

IDT MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM

Musical Theater(Dance)

Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music.

Musical Theater Triple Threat (Chorus)

Musical Theatre is the combination of music (singing), acting and dancing and performers in this genre are commonly referred to as ‘triple threats’. This class will focus on singing. Taught by Samantha Frisby NYC Theater Experience.

Students will be taught pieces highlighting performance qualities, musicality through different genres of dance including jazz and tap. Combinations will be taught in a manner that prepares each student to do well in an actual play audition.

No trial classes. One month commitment. Ongoing September-May.
