IDT Creative Movement Program
Non Competing Class/in studio performances
Dancers 3-6 years old
Dancers will explore movement techniques such as tempo, level changes, mirroring, texture etc. as they improvise and discover the power of expression through dance. Each season (Fall, Winter, Spring) will conclude with a performance of a new creative dance piece for the parents.

IDT Ballet 1

Dancers 3-5 years old
Dancers will be introduced to basic ballet technique including the positions, terms and combinations that will strengthen their abilities to master the building blocks of all dance genres. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September-May.

Dancers 3-5 years old
Students will learn elementary jazz technique focusing on rhythm, musicality, and retaining choreography through short combinations taught in weekly classes. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

All students will be taught Ballet technique. They will learn short combinations during classes each week. IDT Ballet 2 and 3 are more relaxed ballet classes. For the more serious ballerinas, IDT offers Ballet 4 and Ballet 5 where leotard, tights and bun are required. IDT Pointe Prep will be followed by a Pointe class during the 2nd semester of the year. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September-May.
Those that participate January-May will be able to choose to be a part of the IDT Studio Group Number at the IDT Spring Concert.

Dancers 7-9 and 9-11 years old who are serious about improving technique will work on turns (pirouettes, chaines), kicks, flexibility, leaps, splits, strength and precision movements in two separate age appropriate classes. They will work on Jazz techniques/learning short combinations. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September- May.

These classes will focus on the ability to learn combinations quickly in all different genres–jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop etc. This will help the dancers pick up choreography more quickly and prepare them for future auditions when confidence will be based upon learning choreography at a fast pace. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

IDT Senior Technique Class

(12 years old and up)
Each competing team has class once/week for 90 minutes. There is an additional technique class offered once/week for 60 minutes, which is required for most teams. Dancers not on competition teams can enroll in this class.
The Technique Class works on all turns (fouettes, pirouettes, a la seconds, etc.), leaps (side, center, split) , kicks, increasing flexibility, extension, conditioning, and precision. One month commitment. No trial classes. Ongoing September – May.

IDT MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM

Students will be taught pieces highlighting performance qualities, musicality through different genres of dance including jazz and tap. Combinations will be taught in a manner that prepares each student to do well in an actually play audition.
